Uniforms Policy
EYCI – Student Uniform Dress Code Policy
East York has adopted a Uniform Dress Code for students with the objective of promoting a stronger atmosphere for learning within a safe school environment.
The evidence (from research and visits to uniformed schools) supports many benefits of a uniform dress code.
- Helps school officials to identify intruders in the school.
- Gives students a sense of identity and a sense of belonging and pride in their school.
- Is economical in the long run because these well made garments last for years, can be used in turn by younger siblings or relatives and are not subject to changing fashion trends.
- Reduces fashion related competition between students, allowing them to focus on their academic goals.
- Reduces distinctions between students of higher and lower socio-economic status.
