Instruction for Applying to COLLEGE: 2012

Ontario Collage Application Service (OCAS)

Application Deadline: February 1, 2012

 

1. Go to the OCAS website: www.ontariocolleges.ca.

2. To find information that will help you prepare for college, such as details about individual colleges, college program types, and financial assistance, click the "PLAN" tab on the homepage.

3. To research college programs, click the "FIND" tab on the homepage. You can search for, compare and review requirements for college programs at all 28 Ontario colleges.

4. When you are ready to apply, click the "APPLY" tab on homepage. You may wish to view the Applicant Tutorial before you start for more detailed instructions. 

5. If this is the first time logging on, click "Sign up today" under Create New Account.

6. Click "Sign Up" again and complete the form in order to set up an account. Required fields are indicated with a red asterisk (*).

  •  Provide a valid e-mail address.
  •  Set up a Username ( the default is your e-mail address) and a Password.
  •  IMPORTANT: Record both your username and password for future reference as you will need them each time you return to your application.
  • Do NOT lose or share this information!
  •  Accept the Terms and Conditions to complete you Sign-up.

7.You will receive an e-mail with you account information and an activation code. You are now ready to sign in with you newly created username and password.

8. To proceed to the on-line application, follow the link provided on your conformation e-mail or click "Apply" again from the homepage and then "Sign In Here".

9. Enter your Log on information. Read and accept the Privacy Statement.

  • For assistance at any time, you may click the Help link at the top right corner of each screen.

10. On the application home screen, you account number is indicated at the top of the screen. Record this number in a safe place for future reference.

11. On the left navigation bar, Click and complete, in turn, each section under My Profile. The Experience section is optional, but should be completed if you have work or volunteer experience that relates to your area of study.

  • A checkmark will appear after each section is completed. Always click "Save" at the bottom of each screen to continue to the next section.

12. After completing your Profile, click "My Applications" on the left navigation bar, You are now ready to select your college programs.

13. Click "Search for a Program" to select and add programs to your application. Make sure you select the correct start date of the programs which you wish to apply.

  • Your application fee allows you to apply to a maximum of five programs with no more than three programs at any one college.

14. To complete your application, you must make the application fee payment ($95 for five program choices ). You can pay by credit card (Recommended Method) or Interac Online. An e-mail confirming successful payment will be sent to you.

15. At any time, you may resume your application where you left off or return to it to make changes. Once all required section are completed (indicated by the green checkmark), you may return to any section to view or make updates.

16. Colleges may make offers of admission any time after February 1, 2012. Applicants, in turn, must accept an offer of admission by May 1, 2012. After colleges post offers of admission, they can be viewed and accepted by clicking the "View Offers" tab under My Applications

 

Instructions for Applying to UNIVERSITY: 2012

Ontario Universities' Application Centre (OUAC) 

Application Deadline: January 11, 2012

 

1. Research your university program options:

  • Visit the eINFO website at www.electronicinfo.ca. Here, you can find information about all Ontario Universities, including programs, admission requirements, scholarships and residence.
  • Save or write down your program choices and codes and keep them handy.

2. Obtain your confidential OUAC access codes from the guidance office. You will receive your School numberStudent number andPersonal identification number (PIN), all three of which are required for you to start you online application. Do not lose or share these codes. 

3. When you are ready to begin, go to the OUAC website: www.ouac.on.ca.

4. Click "(OUAC 101) Current Secondary School Students".

5. Click "(OUAC 101) Online Application". (You may first wish to view the application tutorial by clicking the "Tutorials" link under Ouick Reference).

6. Click "LOGIN".

7. Enter you three access codes; check the box to accept terms and conditions; and click "Log in now".

8. To select your programs:

If you have done your research and know exactly which OUAC program codes to enter, you may use the "Fast Track" option

OR:

  • Use the "Search Options" link to explore the universities and programs which interest you.
  • For each program that you have selected, review the requirements and complete the program details as requested.

9. To prepare and submit your application:

  • Complete or review, in sequence, all sic application sections listed across the grey toolbar at the top of the page.
  • Click "Submit" to verify all information on your application. Print this page for your records.

10. To complete your application, make a fee payment ($125 for three program choices; $42 for each additional choice). You can pay by credit card (recommended method), by online or telephone banking, or by cheque or money order.

11. Once your application has been successfully submitted, you will immediately receive an OUAC Reference Number (2012-xxx-xxx).Print this screen for future reference. You will need both your OUAC Reference Number and your PIN number each time you wish to access your account.

12. You can return to your application at any time to review details, make changes or view and accept offers of admission.

13. Universities must respond to your application by May 29, 2012. Students, in turn, must accept offers of admission as early asJune 1, 2012.
